MOUNTAIN MARYLAND PACE 2009

"Think Green ~ Think Mountain Maryland"

The PACE 2009 theme, Think Green: Think Mountain Maryland, will showcase the green aspects - past, present, and future - of Mountain Maryland.

Mountain Maryland possesses intrinsic, green attributes: pristine native species forests, clean, roaring rivers, pure, fresh air and more.

Mountain Maryland's actions demonstrate our commitment to the future: LEED building practices, recycling and solid waste reduction efforts, organic farming, forestry management, environmentally friendly wastewater management biological pest control and more.

Mountain Maryland is indeed fortunate to be green by nature, and with individual and group stewardship, Mountain Maryland can be the epitome of green in the 21st century and beyond.

Positive Attitudes Change Everything

The shifting of environmental paradigms, shared innovative deployment of finite natural resources, ecologically sensitive land use planning, and fierce defense of the quality of mountain life are only a few examples of the remarkable and revolutionary development being realized in the two westernmost counties in Maryland.

Maintaining harmony and balance between Allegany and Garrett Counties' natural beauty, bountiful energy resources, quality of life, four season outdoor adventures and historic charm is ultimately achieved and enhanced through a constantly shared vision and respectful interpersonal relationships.
